Are you ready for SNOW?
Snow was a great thing when I was a kid. I wish it still was, but to me, the only good thing that can possibly come out of having some snow…is making Sno-Cream. But, I could manage to survive without having even some Sno-Cream this winter. How about you? I’m sure you’ve heard me talk about how much I’m personally NOT looking for snow. It’s true what they say….”the bigger they are, the harder they fall.”
I tell all my friends the one place you don’t want to be when it snows is at a radio station. No matter how many times you might announce over the air that schools are open or closed, someone WILL call you to ask for the same information. It just never fails. Normally, I’m about the only one that comes in when we get heavy snow. Margaret and everyone else usually get to stay home if it’s pretty bad. But me…no way…I have to come in earlier than usual and man the phones to get all the school closing information, all the business and industry closing or schedules and so much more. Then, you have to track back and forth between both our stations and just keep repeating all that information on each station all day long. UGGG….Dear Lord….please don’t send us any snow this year. Please!
Now, I know we serve a purpose and help a good many people by providing the service. I will never forget, that as a young child, anytime it snowed I’d jump up and start listening to the radio to see if school was going to be open or not. Oh the joy of hearing them say that school would be closed that day. All was well with the world on those days. There wouldn’t be any school and my friends and I could play outside in that white stuff until we couldn’t feel our face and fingers any longer. Then, mama would make some sno-cream. Ahhh…the memories. Sigh…not any more.

I wanted snow last week :) Every year since my son has been born there has been snow near or around his birthday. Kind of missing it this year. I love snow cream, I also remember getting excited about making snow cream while we were getting to stay out of school for the day.
I would love to see snow just to get a day off and enjoy looking out the window and watching it. The only bad thing is my husband works for DOT and would be risking his life on the road pushing snow
